The F and S shaped tread blocks on the center tread pattern provide great wet traction with the help of interlocked 3D sipes.

Winter Drive Grip on Deep Snow & Icy Roads

As we know, the firestone destination xt has a 3PMSF rating (you can view the logo on the sidewall of the tire), which means it gives you amazing traction on snow-packed pavements in winter, with the help of deep sipes, U-shaped sidewall lugs and open shoulder this tire expels out the melted snow very well and also prevents hydroplaning.

This tire drives very well on ice with average braking on ice. Although Destination xt provides acceptable ice traction, still it’s not sufficient to drive on heavy icy roads and cannot fully compete with winter studded tires.

So, if you live in an area with icy roads due to temperature fluctuation, you should go for studded tires like Firestone Winterforce LT, or you can add studs to your all-terrain tire.

Off Road Grip and Traction

While testing it in Off-road drive, I’ve felt excellent traction. The Firestone Destination X/T tire provides pretty well traction and grip on different kinds of terrain, which you imagine is impossible on terrains like mud, gravel, dirt, and sand.

You’ll also be amazed and will love it because it can easily handle mud and severe off-road conditions. It delivers exceptional traction, and handling in muddy trails and small hills with the help of open shoulders, u-shaped rugged sidewall lugs, and high void areas.

But if you are going to do an adventure on deep mud-packed terrains, you should choose a mud terrain (MT) tire like Pro Comp Xtreme MT2 tire rather then all terrain (AT) tire.

It also proves itself in dirt and gravel and provides an acceptable traction and grasp in the dirt with the help of staggered sidewalls. 

Of course, in gravel, it also maintains traction because the destination xt tire doesn’t carry small stones in the center and shoulder section due to its tactically settled stone ejectors.

Steering and Drive Handling

The destination xt tire has sidewall blocks that provide extra protection against sidewall punctures. However, as we know, all-terrain tires are not designed for sharp-edged handling and fast steering.

Yeah, some tires are made especially with this feature, but due to moderate initial response, the firestone destination xt is not among those tires.

So, I suggest you slow down the speed while quick steering, although it is perfect for straight driving and straight-line tracking.
